How-To: Tying a Bowline knot

A bowline knot is used to create a secure loop at the end of a line, which is particularly useful for attaching to objects to lift them up to a climber. It is a fairly simple knot to tie as well as to untie — even when it has been subjected to a heavy load that might cause other knot types to become tighter under tension.
