Meet the New ACRT Arborist Training Instructors

ACRT Arborist Training Instructors Welcome Jeremy Riemersma (left) and Zachary LeBlanc (right)ACRT Arborist Training instructors Jeremy Riemersma and Zachary LeBlanc bring decades of combined experience in arboriculture, safety, and workforce development to the growing training team. With backgrounds spanning utility arboriculture, technical instruction, and field operations, both instructors are passionate about helping professionals build safer, stronger careers through high-quality arborist education and hands-on learning opportunities.

Riemersma joins the team after spending nearly 20 years working on ACRT’s Job Corps contract, where he served as an instructor helping students develop foundational arboriculture skills. Prior to that role, he gained field experience working throughout the industry before transitioning into education. In his new position with ACRT Arborist Training, Riemersma will travel across the country teaching safety standards and arboriculture best practices to professionals in the field.

“One of the things I’m most excited about is continuing to learn and grow,” Riemersma shared during his interview. “In the last two weeks, I feel refreshed in the sense that I’m learning again from others, while also getting to share things that I know to be tried and true.”

Zachary brings 16 years of industry experience to the training team, including 13 years with Bartlett Tree Experts, where he held a variety of positions ranging from crew leader and plant healthcare specialist to local office safety coordinator. A graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School and Paul Smith’s College, Zachary said his passion for teaching started early in his career.

“I’ve always loved teaching people how to do this work,” Zachary said. “My instructors made learning about this industry very fun, and I’ve always tried to pass that enthusiasm along and help other people in their careers.”

Both trainers will support a wide range of ACRT Arborist Training courses, with the goal of becoming proficient in teaching the full curriculum. They also share strong educational backgrounds and respected industry credentials. Riemersma holds an associate degree in forestry from Paul Smith’s College and maintains ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Certified Tree Worker credentials. Zachary earned an associate degree in arboriculture and landscape management from Paul Smith’s College and is an ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified arborist, and licensed North Carolina pesticide applicator.

For both Riemersma and Zachary, joining ACRT Arborist Training represents an opportunity to connect with arborists across the country while helping elevate safety and professional development throughout the industry. Zachary said he is especially excited to “learn and grow with everybody here” while meeting professionals with varying backgrounds and skill levels during trainings nationwide.

Outside of work, both trainers enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places. Riemersma enjoys camping, fishing, and spending time on Lake Champlain near his home, while Zachary enjoys hiking, museums, and air shows, with a special appreciation for the history and outdoor recreation opportunities found throughout the Northeast.

With their combined experience in field operations, safety, and instruction, Riemersma and Zachary strengthen ACRT Arborist Training instructors’ commitment to delivering high-quality education and hands-on learning opportunities for utility arborists nationwide.
