Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to provide my own climbing gear?

While some students prefer to use their own gear, it is not a requirement for the class. ACRT Arborist Training provides a couple of sets of climbing gear to be shared amongst the students in the class.

Do I need to provide anything?

ACRT Arborist Training can provide climbing gear and PPE to be shared among the class. We ask that each student come prepared with clothing appropriate for indoor and outdoor work and solid work boots (no flip flops or tennis shoes, please).

How/when do I pay?

You can enroll in any of our classes on our website: store.acrt.com, and payment is due at the time of enrollment.

What is included in my class purchase?

Each class varies slightly. Be sure to check the class options here: store.acrt.com. Click the class you are interested in, and it will be listed under “Upon Successful completion of this class, individuals will receive:”

What happens if I’m sick or cannot make it to my class?

We will make every effort to transfer you to another class. If you are unable to make the class and cannot attend any of the other classes, please contact us immediately.

Can I take this class as an individual, or do I have to own a business?

Anyone meeting the prerequisites can take our classes. You do not need to own or be part of a business to enroll.

Is there an age requirement to take any of the classes?

While there is no age requirement for our classes, we do require all students to be over the age of 21 to handle a chainsaw in our class. Most classes have some chainsaw components. If you are under 21 and wish to take one of our classes, please contact us.

What time does the class start?

Classes generally start at 8 AM. After enrollment, you will receive a registration form that will indicate the class time and address.

What time does class end?

Classes typically end around 4 PM–5 PM

Do you cover meals and/or food?

Each student will be responsible for their meals, transportation, and lodging.

Should I stay at a certain hotel?

We can provide you with a list of hotels near the training locations, but you are not required to stay at any particular hotel. Some students even choose to camp if there is a campground nearby.

Will the Line Clearance class make me Line Clearance Qualified?

Line Clearance Qualification comes from education and experience, no matter where you receive training. While our Line Clearance training satisfies OSHA’s safety requirements for working around energized lines, taking the class alone does not make someone Line Clearance Qualified.

What class will help me get my ISA arborist certification?

Depending on your level of experience, our Basic and Advanced Arborist classes are a good place to start.

What if I only need some of the training for one of the classes? Can I pay less for that training?

Please contact us if you need custom training, and we will be happy to help create a curriculum to suit your specific needs. Our standard classes cannot be adjusted.

When will you be coming to my area? I don’t see it on your calendar/course list.

Please contact us if you do not see a class scheduled near you. We can provide you with a proposal to send a trainer to your location, or put you on a waiting list, and we can contact you when a class opens up near you.
